Our goal has always been to help our clients plan a successful retirement. Given the difficult environment currently facing future American retirees, this has become even more important to us.
According to a study analyzing the likelihood that middle-income Americans would outlive their financial assets in retirement, Pennsylvanian Baby Boomers near retirement (without a pension plan) have a 74% probability of outliving their income.
The study found that almost three out of five middle-class new retirees can expect to outlive their financial assets if they attempt to maintain their current pre-retirement standard of living. To avoid outliving their financial assets, middle-class retirees will have to reduce their standard of living, on average, by 24 percent.
But why are we telling you these disheartening statistics? we don't always tell our clients what they want to hear - we tell them what they need to hear.
